"Rise of the Ultramen"

Films: Ultraman Tiga, Ultraman Dyna, and Ultraman Gaia: The Decisive Battle in Hyperspace (1998)

Alias: None

Type: Mystical

Location: Civilized Area

Height/Weight: 83 meters and 82,000 metric tons.

Affiliation: Evil

Summary: It's high time we got to what is quite possibly Japan's biggest superhero franchise. No, not any of that Shonen stuff (no offense), but the mascot of heroic Tokusatstsu. The mighty Ultraman...as in, one of many of his incarnations, and the vile beast that had him on edge.

History: The King of Mons was the literal brainchild of a young boy named Hiroshi Kashimada, a rather misanthropic lad who loved kaiju and hated Ultraman, especially the current one, Gaia. Using the Red Sphere that brought Gaia here in the first place, he summoned a monster he made out of clay earlier. The King of Mons! This beast was so powerful, he could summon the monsters conceived by Hiroshi's friends, the aquatic Scylla and the airborne Bajiris. Needless to say, Gaia was horrifically outclassed...

Notable Kills: Nothing special

Final Fate: Eventually, a good kid makes a wish for both Ultraman Tiga and Dyna to join the fight. With everything even, both Scylla and Bajiris are taken out, weakening the King of Mons and allowing Gaia to obliterate him with the Photon Stream. The day is saved!

Powers/Abilities: The King of Mons can fire a Cremation Beam, summon a shield, and spawn other monsters.

Weakness: Any damage that his spawn receive is shared with him, allowing beings of equal or greater power the upper hand.

Scariness Factor: 4-This beast is a cut above the other kaiju that Ultras fight on a regular basis. Aside from coming extremely close to killing one, this thing is powered by a child with far too little supervision, and can summon other kaiju that are somehow even uglier than him. Thank the stars that we even have giant superheroes for these situations.

Trivia: -The King of Mons shares a similar origin story with Gango, who was summoned via a magic sphere that the original Ultraman had to whisk away after the beast got wished out of existence.

-Okay for those wondering what Ultraman really is, it is a spiritual successor to the old "Ultra Q" series that slowly but surely evolved into one of Japan's most popular franchises. Did you know that he was once going to look like a cross between Garuda and a Tengu, and named Bermier?
